University of Kentucky Researchers Defeat COVID?

We are all “sick” of Covid, aren’t we? Most of us have had it numerous times, with very minimal effects. I have had it three times, including as I am writing this. It is just a fact of life at this point.

Unfortunately, some people still die. Now, let’s be real, almost all of those people have underlying issues that heavily contribute. Doesn’t make it any less sad, but a fact is a fact.

Unfortunately, the government continues to attempt to push all the things that have proven NOT to work. The vaccine and boosters, social distancing, masks.

Speaking of masks, some school districts, including the largest in Kentucky are going back to mandates for the school year for kids. Just insane!

But what if there was a mask developed that really worked? A mask that wasn’t just a glorified Kleenex? Would you be tempted? If there was solid science behind it rather than the junk science used to push cloth, surgical, and N 95 masks?

College of Engineering Professor Dibakar Bhattacharyya, Ph.D. (lovingly called DB by colleagues), led his Ph.D. student Rollie Mills and other researchers to develop a medical mask membrane that destroys covid spike protein on contact. 

So, what we have here is a mask that actually physically kills the Covid spike protein on contact. To me, that sounds like a game changer!

One has to wonder however, why isn’t this news story on the front page of every website and media outlet in the country? This has been in development since early 2020, but I bet almost no one outside of the University of Kentucky’s College of Engineering has heard of it.

Other masks, like an N95, only deflect Covid-19…this creation completely deactivates the virus which helps prevent Covid from spreading.

“This is the most exciting accomplishment out of all the projects I’ve worked on at the University of Kentucky. It was difficult and I had a good team including student Rollie Mills,” said DB. 

I’ve posed this question to numerous people, and we all come up with one answer. There are safe, low cost, effective treatments available that can help folks avoid the hospital and save lives.

Monoclonal antibody treatment is one. What about the therapeutics that were being so heavily touted? Why aren’t there commercials for those every night on television like there are for allergy drugs, etc.?

The common answer? Money. As with any disease, the money isn’t in the cure, it’s in the treatment. The government wants vaccines and boosters in people’s arms, not low cost, safe treatments. No money in that!

“Even if you are sick and you have Covid and don’t know it and you’re wearing this mask, hopefully anything that comes out of your mask isn’t even able to affect someone around you and work,” said Mills. 

This project was made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation. They’re working with a company in California to see if they can make them available widespread.

Why did the National Science Foundation have to fund this? Why didn’t the government? If there is a technology that could potentially wipe out Covid, why isn’t our government on top of it?

Hard questions, folks. Let’s see where this goes. If these masks work, and are made widely available, let’s see if they are advertised, or even mentioned by Dr. Fauci and his lackeys.

Kudos to my hometown University for actually being concerned with public health!
