For what feels like eons, Hollywood has been a cesspool of liberalism, however, in recent decades it’s gone beyond the occasional film or television episode containing a kernel of progressive ideology. Rather than tell good stories that happen to have themes woven beneath the surface, films are mostly propaganda pieces and celebrities spend their time doing as much online activism as possible.
However, now that Donald Trump is president for a second time, there’s been a surprising shift in our culture. After suffering beneath the censorship of the Hollywood system, many of the president’s critics are actually turning their anger and frustration away from him and toward the Democratic Party. Celebrities are also coming out as conservatives and saying positive things about Trump, emboldened by his landslide win last November.
Ever since then, many prominent figures in the entertainment industry have come forward and expressed disappointment, not just with the outcome of the election, but with the Democratic Party and how they handled the presidential campaign in 2024. At the top of the list of complaints is the coup to boot Biden and the nomination of Vice President Kamala Harris in his place.
One notable figure in the industry who opted to completely sever ties with the Democratic Party is director Adam McKay who is most well known for his films The Big Short and Don’t Look Up. McKay, despite having been a hardcore Democrat most of his life, announced he would be leaving the party altogether following Trump’s 2024 victory.
“It is time to abandon the Dem Party. I’m registering Green Party or Working Families. But I’m open to ideas,” McKay wrote in a post published on social media. He then commented on his former party’s lack of progressive policies on issues such as healthcare and climate change as being partly responsible for the loss against Trump.
Another vocal hater of Trump’s, Mark Ruffalo, the Hulk himself, seemingly hinted he was dissatisfied with how the Democratic Party handled things during the previous presidential election cycle. He desires to see the Democrats go even further left than they already are when it comes to choosing leadership.
Something tells me that’s not going to work. The American people made it clear that they didn’t want radical progressivism when they elected Trump as president. And he didn’t win by small margins either. He took all seven swing states, the Electoral College, and the popular vote. If that’s not a complete and total repudiation of the left’s policies, I’m not sure what is.

Many people have pointed fingers for the loss at Academy Award-winning actor George Clooney, who is considered one of the most influential Democratic fundraisers in the entertainment industry. Once Biden dropped out of the presidential race, Clooney was all aboard the Kamala train, utilizing his very public platform to bolster her campaign for commander-in-chief.
However, Democrats feel that Clooney alienated working-class voters, along with other Hollywood elites, and that drove this particular demographic straight into the arms of Trump.
Another critically important voice in popular culture today, podcast host Joe Rogan, was very vocal about his dissatisfaction with the Democratic Party. While he’s never really been a diehard progressive, he definitely leans to the left on a lot of issues, even slamming Trump during his first administration and supporting Bernie Sanders in 2020.
Something changed this election cycle. The insanity pushed by the left — censorship, transgenderism, horrible economy — drove Rogan to heavily criticize the leadership of the Democratic Party and ultimately led to his supporting and endorsing Trump for president.
“They’re saying stupid s–t,” Rogan said in a recent podcast episode, calling out the party’s inability to connect with voters. He warned that until Democrats learn to genuinely engage with working-class Americans, they will continue to lose elections.
One of the reasons this is so important is due to the audience that Rogan reaches, which is primarily made up of men who are independent or swing voters, which is the demographic Democrats need to win over to be victorious. And it appears they still don’t get it as they are seemingly doubling down on their previous courses of action.
Trump’s ability to expose the insanity of the radical left, to draw out their hypocrisy and point toward their disconnect with the average, everyday American, has resonated with voters across the country. And those voters have made it loud and clear that they won’t fall for the lies again.
Leftists who get the message, like those who are upset with their party, are angry at those within positions of power who have the ability to make changes, yet refuse to do so, which they believe will ultimately result in many future losses to come.
