Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson of Louisiana stated that the failed vote to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was simply a setback, but vowed House Republicans are going to give it a second shot and this time, he promises they will boot the man from his position. Which is a good thing because he’s failing miserably in his job by doing nothing whatsoever to seal off the border and deport illegal immigrants entering our country back home.
His whole position is predicated on upholding our national security and keeping us safe from threats. With the border wide open, dangerous criminals — mostly working for cartels in Mexico — have entered the country, bringing tons of fentanyl with them, adding more casualties to the epidemic that has swept the nation. Crime has skyrocketed in areas where many of these illegal migrants are being shipped. Add to that the fact that terrorists have been using the southern border to get into the U.S. and you have an increased threat of terrorist activities.
Mayorkas is not performing the duties of his office. Time for him to be fired. A normal person would be, right?

Johnson spoke to reporterson Capitol Hill the morning after a series of votes in which lawmakers were unable to approve impeachment articles against Mayorkas over his handling of the border crisis as well as a $17.6 billion Israel aid package.
“Last night was a setback, but democracy is messy,” Johnson said in response to a question on impeachment, noting the House GOP has a “razor thin margin” over the Democrats.

The speaker alluded to Rep. Al Green (D-TX), who showed up at the last moment to cast his vote while in a wheelchair after being rushed from a hospital where he has been recovering from abdominal surgery.
“Sometimes when you’re counting votes and people show up when they’re not expected to be in the building, that changes the equation,” Johnson stated.
Three members of the Republican Party broke off and decided to vote alongside Democrats to sabotage the resolution, attempting to make the case that issues with border security are due to policy differences instead of impeachable offenses.

I don’t know about anyone else, but if I were the districts being represented by these three, I’d consider giving them the boot in the next election.
Because GOP Vice Chairman Blake Moore (R-UT) flipped to a “no” vote at the last moment to break a tie, Republicans will get another chance to bring up the impeachment resolution in the future. They await the return of Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), who has been battling cancer.
The speaker then stated that lawmakers are bound by duty to hold both Mayorkas and the Biden administration accountable for not solving the border crisis and securing the country.
“We will pass those articles of impeachment. We’ll do it on the next time round,” Johnson went on to say without giving a date for the second vote.
Johnson then took an opportunity to rip into most of the House Democrats who voted against the aid bill for Israel, claiming they did so for “political purposes,” going on to say, “we’ll see” what the Senate is going to do with the $118 billion package that is coupled with security reforms including money for Ukraine, Israel, and several other foreign causes.
I don’t think we need to be sending anyone else any cash for their conflicts as we’re practically drowning here at home. Our economy is in the toilet and people are barely making ends meet thanks to inflation, increases in the cost of living, and all sorts of other issues. Now is not the time to prop up other nations’ war efforts.
“I have made very clear that you have to address these issues on their own merits,” Johnson commented, “and Israel desperately needs the assistance, everyone knows that.”
