Karen Huger, a star of “The Real Housewives of Potomac,” finds herself entangled in legal trouble, facing charges of driving while impaired by alcohol and driving under the influence following a car crash in Maryland.
According to court documents, Huger, 60, was behind the wheel of her 2017 Maserati when officers from the Montgomery County Police Department pulled her over at 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday. As per findings from PEOPLE magazine, she is set to appear in court.
The reality TV personality is slapped with several driving offenses, including negligent operation of a vehicle endangering lives and property, as well as reckless driving displaying a disregard for safety.
She stands accused of failing to adjust her vehicle’s speed to prevent a collision, exceeding speed limits, driving with a suspended registration, and neglecting to report a change of address to authorities within a mandated 30-day period.
A representative from the Montgomery County Police informed TMZ that her driving was aggressive, citing she was moving “too fast for the conditions,” as per their evaluation.
Huger recounted her harrowing experience to TMZ, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and well-wishes. She recounted a traumatic evening where emotional discussions with a friend left her in tears, only to encounter a near-fatal collision on her way home.
“I’m hurt, bruised up a bit, but so grateful I am alive!” Huger exclaimed. “I did receive citations, one of which was unrelated to the incident which is understandable, but what was most surprising is that the car that almost hit me just drove away!”

She emphasized the importance of emotional awareness while driving and urged everyone to wear seatbelts, crediting the safety device for potentially saving her life.
Reports indicate the vehicle sustained significant damage, rendering it inoperable and necessitating a tow truck for removal. However, the full extent of the damage remains undisclosed. While Huger received multiple citations, the specific reasons for these citations have not been disclosed, and she was reportedly not taken into custody.
Huger, often referred to as the “Grande Dame” of Potomac for her refined demeanor and leadership qualities among cast members, has made a name for herself on the Bravo reality series. Beyond her television career, she has ventured into the beauty industry with her fragrance line, La’Dame by Karen Huger, and is recognized for her philanthropic endeavors, particularly in Alzheimer’s disease advocacy, driven by personal family experiences.
