In a state where Biden wonder the presidential vote by 16 points, the Democrats were certain they would win the gubernatorial vote of 2021 by a landslide. They may not have been as worried about the state’s Attorney General race, or even the vote for the Lieutenant Governor, but even so, Republicans took the win for those positions as well on November 3rd, 2021.
Republican Glenn Youngkin defeated Democrat Terry McAuliffe on November 3rd. Republican Winsome Sears became the first black woman to be elected Virginia’s Lt. Governor and Republican Jason Miyares defeated Democrat and incumbent State Attorney General Mark Herring.
While many are shocked and surprised by the turn of events, others aren’t. Loudon County has been the center of several controversies including the Facebook group called the “Anti-Racist Parents of Loudon County” who were caught compiling lists of conservative parents that were opposed to Critical Race Theory being taught in school. Then of course there was the bathroom rape scandal that really lit up the election race when The Daily Wire discovered that Loudon County had attempted to cover up the assault of a teenaged girl by a boy wearing a skirt. To make matters worse, during a Loudon County School Board meeting on June 22nd, 2021, the father of the aforementioned girl was arrested and later convicted of “disorderly conduct and resisting arrest”. (The sentencing was 10 days in jail but even that was suspended so long as he doesn’t get arrested and behaves for the next year.)
The first black woman to be elected to a statewide position in Virginia is a Republican, which is actually the norm when it comes to minorities having historical firsts in politics, but that’s not the way the Left wants to sell it. Late on November 2nd, Jemele Hill who is a sport’s writer, posted a tweet that said “It’s not the messaging, folk. This country simply loves white supremacy.”
It’s not the messaging, folks. This country simply loves white supremacy.

The Lt. Governor Elect’s team responded November 3rd after Winsome Sears had been declared the winner of her race.
We beg to differ. https://t.co/2MDhbQNbMH pic.twitter.com/vOU1vmD8AX

So, who is Winsome Sears? According to her website, Sear’s is a Jamaican immigrant, a marine veteran, a college graduate (BA in English and a Masters in Organizational leadership), a mother, and a Republican politician.
Fox News reported a few comments Winsome Sears made during her victory speech, a reminder to those like Jemele Hill that she is not oppressed in the Republican party, that she’s not oppressed or prevented from achieving her dreams due to her skin color. “I’m telling you that what you are looking at is the American dream” and “When I joined the Marine Corps, I was still a Jamaican. But this country had done so much for me, I was willing, willing, to die for this country.”
Beyond her team’s response to Hill, Winsome Sears has not specifically responded. Other conservatives and Republicans have and it wasn’t pretty.
Jessica O’Donnell, a journalist, responded to the tweet within minutes of Hill dropping hers with a poignant reminder that a black woman was voted into office.
white supremacy is electing the first black woman lieutenant governor. got it.

Then Christina Pushaw, an American political expert, reminded Hill of the embarrassing photo of current Virginia Governor Ralph Northam wearing blackface while standing next to someone wearing a KKK hood at a college party during medical school.

Deputy Managing Editor of Newsbusters and MRC Media, Nicholas Fondacaro, made sure Hill knew the name of a woman who just made Virginian history.
That’s a lot of BS. Virginia just elected this powerful black woman as lieutenant governor. Her name is Winsome Sears btw. pic.twitter.com/6Xejn5b3eJ
