It is nice to actually read some good news. In Texas this week, a woman went missing for two days before she was discovered accidentally in her submerged Jeep at the bottom of a lake.
So, what is the good news? She somehow was alive and was rescued and taken to the hospital, where she is expected to make a full recovery. Check this out
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, a fisherman at Lake o’ the Pines called police to report seeing a black Jeep submerged under water, about 40 feet from a nearby boat ramp.
Deputies and a local wrecker service responded to the scene and while preparing to pull the car from the water discovered “a person was still in the vehicle and moving.”
“With the assistance of the wrecker service, fisherman, and Marion County deputies, a female was safely rescued from the submerged jeep,” reads a press release, which added that emergency medical services brought her to a nearby hospital.
While physically she will be fine, one can only imagine the toll on the mind being submerged, waiting for death can inflict. That sounds like years of therapy, and absolutely no more lake time. The fact that she managed to not run out of air in the Jeep is insane.
While the woman hasn’t been named publicly, the Sheriff’s Office said it was later determined she was listed as a missing person by the Longview Texas Police Department. According to KHOU, she was reported missing on April 5 — two days before she was discovered in the lake.
In addition to the statement, authorities also released two photos of the woman’s harrowing rescue — one showing just how deep under the water the vehicle was, and the other showing two men pulling the woman from the lake.
What could have been going through the minds of the fishermen and the tow driver when they discovered that someone was in the vehicle? At first, it has to be dread because you know you are about to witness a horrific scene. Drowning victims are some of the most disturbing victims because of the toll the water, and marine life take on a dead body.
Once it was discovered that she was alive, the dread must have turned to panic, as she needed to be pulled out as quickly as possible.
The Facebook post about the rescue has been flooded with messages from people commenting on just how “lucky” the woman was to be discovered,
“Looks like that fishermen was a godsend! If he had not gone that direction she would be dead!” wrote one.
“Can we acknowledge the jeep that Saved her life as well. Because this is truly a act of God,” added another.
Another popular comment read: “WOW! If it was completely submerged, she was underwater a while! It’s a miracle she survived.”
Certainly, it could be argued a higher power was watching over this woman. The fishermen just happened to be in the right place, and her vehicle managed to have enough oxygen to support her for two days. Truly miraculous stuff.
