Marvel Star Says Legendary Hero Shouldn’t Represent America

It’s become a trend in recent years for actors out promoting their latest films to say some of the stupidest crap you’ve ever had the displeasure of hearing during press junkets. More often than not, there’s no way back from these comments and their projects — which are infected with woke propaganda like a wound with a bad case of gangrene — usually end up tanking at the box office. With this having happened with major movies and television shows — practically anything “Star Wars” — you’d think actors would get a clue and think through their comments during these promotional events.

Not “Captain America: Brave New World” star Anthony Mackie. During a recent appearance to promote the new Marvel Studios film, which will not feature the REAL Cap, Steve Rogers, but Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon, said that he didn’t believe the character represented “the term America.”

Uh, it’s literally in the name, Tony. May I call you, Tony? No?

Mackie, whose Sam Wilson character steps into the role of the titular hero in “Captain America: Brave New World,” made the comments while doing press for the latest Disney/Marvel venture in Rome. The role was previously played by actor Chris Evans as Steve Rogers.

“For me, Captain America represents a lot of different things and I don’t think the term ‘America’ should be one of those representations. It’s about a man who keeps his word, who has honor, dignity, and integrity. Someone who is trustworthy and dependable,” Mackie explained to the press. “This is kind of like an aspect of a dream coming true. You know, when I was a kid … all of us as actors, I believe, want to get back to that day before someone told you no.”

Mackie doesn’t appear to believe that honor, dignity, and integrity are American values. They are. In fact they are principles and values that undergird the entire foundation of the country. Our liberty was — and still is — designed for a morally upright people. Morality surely includes honor, dignity, and integrity. Perhaps Mackie needs to learn some history?

“When you look out your door and you see a five-year-old with a stick and he’s slaying dragons to save the princess in the tower, that kid really believes there are dragons out there, that stick is really a sword, and he’s really trying to save that princess,” Mackie added. “Then one day, somebody told him no. There are no dragons, that’s not a sword, and that princess is not there. And all of his little dreams were dashed.”

The second half of his statement rings true. It’s the first half that’s a total load of garbage.

“Man I hate this stupid stuff. Disney stock needs to hit zero,” X account Comfortably Smug said in a response posted to social media.

“Why don’t you just call him Captain Moron?” writer John Podhoretz posited.

“Yeah, so, someone should tell Hollywood that it’s not the summer of 2020 anymore,” author Jerry Dunleavy said in a response to Mackie’s comments.

“I don’t know if this guy hates America or not, but I do know that he feels compelled to say so because that’s what the anti-America left wants to hear. Pathetic, mindless, leftist virtue signaling. This crap is on its way out, only some folks haven’t figured it out yet,” author Tim Murtaugh so elegantly stated.

Having watched the trailer for the movie, I can safely say it looks pretty “paint-by-the-numbers” for a Marvel film. It clearly tries to recapture the mood and tone of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” which is without a doubt the best of all the Marvel Studios projects. I have a feeling this one is going to tank hard.
