Efforts made by a liberal group in the state of Michigan to have former President Donald Trump booted from the Republican Party primary ballot got blown to pieces on Wednesday, along with all of their twisted hopes and dreams of silencing the American people, as the Supreme Court in the state issued a ruling against their case. Just a week ago, the Colorado Supreme Court made the exact opposite decision in a similar case, booting Trump from the ballot.
It’s not enough for radical leftists to try and cheat to win elections, but now they want to limit who their political opposition can even vote for in the first place. These people won’t stop until they have complete and total control over every aspect of life in the U.S.
Here’s more from the Daily Wire:
A brief order said the Michigan justices “are not persuaded that the questions presented should be reviewed by this Court,” rejecting the challenge from Free Speech For The People that seeks to disqualify Trump based on the view that he engaged in an insurrection on January 6, 2021.
The application sought to challenge the Michigan Court of Appeals decision that left the issue of primary ballot access up to the Republican Party but declined to rule on whether Trump is qualified to be on the general election ballot because he has not won the GOP nomination.
One of the Michigan Supreme Court justices, Elizabeth Welch, wrote in an opinion that the lower-court ruling “still allows appellants to renew their legal efforts as to the Michigan general election later in 2024 should Trump become the Republican nominee for President of the United States or seek such office as an independent candidate.”
The radical progressive group responsible for the case to remove Trump from the ballot, Free Speech For The People — a truly ironic name given what they are attempting to do — which filed the lawsuit with election attorney Mark Brewer on the behalf of a group of voters, revealed that it will not accept the ruling and will continue to fight against the former president and by extension, his supporters, removing him from Michigan’s ballot and from those of other states in the country.
Again, just like in the Colorado case, the argument in favor of booting Trump is based upon Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. This particular section has mostly been interpreted to be concerned with blocking former government officials who sided with the Confederacy during the Civil War from being able to come back to public office after its conclusion. Which means it has no bearing whatsoever on the election campaign of Donald Trump.
“The decision isn’t binding on any court outside Michigan and we continue our current and planned legal actions in other states to enforce Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment against Donald Trump,” Free Speech For People legal director Ron Fein went on to say.
“The Court’s decision is disappointing but we will continue, at a later stage, to seek to uphold this critical constitutional provision designed to protect our republic,” Brewer later added in a statement. “Trump led a rebellion and insurrection against the Constitution when he tried to overturn the 2020 presidential election and he is disqualified from ever seeking or holding public office again.”

How can a man be charged with starting an insurrection when he constantly and consistently begged those attending the protests that day outside of the Capitol building to make their voices heard in a peaceful, orderly manner? He condemned the violence over and over again. This hardly seems like fomenting a violent attempt to overthrow the government.
Other Section 3 legal challenges against Trump have been filed in other states. Some have been dismissed while others remain ongoing, a Lawfare tracker shows. Only the Colorado case has resulted in Trump being kicked off the primary ballot. Trump’s campaign vowed to “swiftly file an appeal” to the U.S. Supreme Court. The Colorado high court’s ruling has been placed on hold until at least January 4 pending further proceedings.
“The Michigan Supreme Court has strongly and rightfully denied the Desperate Democrat attempt to take the leading Candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election, me, off the ballot in the Great State of Michigan,” the former president remarked in post published on Truth Social. “This pathetic gambit to rig the Election has failed all across the Country, including in States that have historically leaned heavily toward the Democrats. Colorado is the only State to have fallen prey to the scheme.”
It’s not just about removing Trump from the playing field so Biden has a greater chance of being reelected. This is about slapping tape over the mouths of dissenters who are critical of the current administration, progressive ideology, and are standing up against the radical transformation of the United States that liberals are doing their best to accomplish.
We must fight these battles in court and ensure Democrats aren’t able to force us to be quiet.
