Legendary actor with a voice of gold, Morgan Freeman, told an interviewer he spoke with over the weekend that he absolutely loathes the concept of Black History Month and the reason he gave is honestly brilliant. This is the way I’ve always seen it as well. I have no problem whatsoever with honoring Black people who have made significant contributions to our society and culture, which they have done in many, many ways. But doing so with a whole separate month seems belittling.
According to Freeman, the reason he hates BHM is because he believes Black history is a part of overall American history. Amen to that! Could not agree more.
The comments came during an interview Freeman did with Variety while also chatting about some of the projects he’s done in the past, which includes “The Gray House,” a series about the Civil War.
“I detest it. The mere idea of it,” Freeman stated, according to The Daily Wire. “You are going to give me the shortest month in a year? And you are going to celebrate ‘my’ history?! This whole idea makes my teeth itch. It’s not right.”
This is so based.
Isn’t that what the kids these days say about something that’s right, true, and awesome? Am I doing it right?
“My history is American history,” he added. “It’s the one thing in this world I am interested in, beyond making money, having a good time and getting enough sleep.”

Nailed it like a hammer driving one into a wood board.
“If you don’t know your past, if you don’t remember it, you are bound to repeat it,” he later explained. “Do you know this song? ‘To everything, there is a season.’ It really, really works in show business. You are trying to sell something 15 years ago and nobody even looks at you. Then they go: ‘Didn’t you have a project, some time ago? Do you still have it?’ Life is like that, in this industry. You have got something you think is important, but trying to convince others is the difficult part.”
Freeman has made similar remarks in the past about Black History Month, saying last year that it was an “insult,” along with being called an “African-American.”
“I don’t subscribe to that title,” Freeman had stated at that time.”Black people have had different titles all the way back to the n-word and I do not know how these things get such a grip, but everyone uses ‘African-American.’ What does it really mean?”
This isn’t the first time that Freeman has mentioned how much he’d like to take Black History Month and punch it square in the testiculars. He spoke of his hatred for it way back in 2005, again pointing out that Black history is American history.
My man knows what he’s talking about.
Blacks are a critical component of our nation’s history. That cannot be denied. Anyone that tries to do so is either woefully ignorant, completely stupid, or an actual, honest-to-goodness racist. And yes, despite being overhyped by the left, they actually do exist.
All of the people who have made America the greatest nation the world has ever seen deserve to be celebrated, regardless of their skin color. At the end of the day, no matter where you’re from, what your level of melanin is, or what you believe, if you have contributed to the United States in some way, no matter how small, you’re an American.
Be proud.
