Things do not seem to be going well for Hollywood celebrity married couple, Jennifer Lopez — known as “J.Lo” to her music fans — and popular actor/director Ben Affleck, as the pop superstar has announced she is cancelling her summer tour that was originally planned to help support her new album. Gee, what a shock. A couple of celebrities who are calling it quits so soon after kindling a relationship. Who would have thought?
Not to mention this is the second time they’ve tried this whole love thing. I mean, if it was disastrous the first time around, what made them think it would be any different this time around?
According to PEOPLE:
On Friday, May 31, Live Nation announced that the singer’s This Is Me… Live is canceled because she is “taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends.” Lopez released a statement to her fans on her OntheJLo website and explained why it was a tough decision to make.
“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary,” Lopez, 54, said in her statement.
The singer added, “I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…”
The tour was originally set to run from June to August, in support of her latest studio album This Is Me…Now, which dropped in February. Fans who have already purchased tickets through Ticketmaster will automatically be refunded. For those who purchased through third-party resale sites, fans will need to reach out to the point of purchase for more details.
In addition to spending time with her close circle, Lopez is currently celebrating the release of her Netflix film Atlas, which hit the streaming service on May 24 and has already reached No. 1 in 55 countries.
This announcement comes on the heels of reported marital issues for Lopez and husband Ben Affleck. Though they were pictured together Thursday, the couple have been living separately in Los Angeles while experiencing a strain in the marriage, sources have told PEOPLE. She’s been busy preparing for the now-canceled tour and promoting Atlas, while Affleck has been filming for The Accountant 2. The two famously rekindled their relationship from the early 2000s in 2021 and married in 2022.
One of the reasons celebrity relationships never seem to last is bcause they don’t really have much of a foundation to begin with. Actors and other kinds of artists are very emotion driven, and as we all know, feelings ebb and flow. You won’t always “feel” like you love your significant other. Feelings of romantic love heat up and cool off frequently. Love is a choice. One must choose to love their spouse in all ways, at all times, through thick and thin, whether the feelings are there or not.
Building your marriage on Jesus Christ is a pretty good way to ensure it has a foundation that will not erode over time, as husbands are to love their wives as Christ loves the church, being willing to die to self in order to take care of your bride. You have to make the decision beforehand that divorce is not an option, that you will do whatever it takes to make your relationship thrive, and that means dying to self. Both partners.

Celebrity couples build their relationship on emotional, romantic love, the butterflies in the belly feeling, rather than real, genuine, self-sacrificial love.
Let’s hope that J.Lo and Affleck come to realize this before they once again head for divorce court.
