A 16-year-old girl is receiving attention from all across the country after she risked her life to save a horse from the wildfires torching Los Angeles. Kalyna Fedorowycz has been actively helping to transport horses away from the flames, which have burned whole neighborhoods to ash. It was during one such mission that Fedorowycz came across a large black horse that was so scared it wouldn’t get inside a trailer in order to be taken to a safer location.
However, according to Breitbart, the young lad was not about to allow something awful to happen to the beautiful animal, so she threw a saddle on it and decided to ride it to safety. It was a 14-mile journey fraught with a number of hazards and dangers along the way. Fedorowycz’s father recorded the ride. In the video, you can see smoke everywhere in the air. Fedorowycz rode and sometimes walked beside the horse for parts of the trip.
When the pair saw burned out cars on the side of the road along with large debris on the street, the horse appeared to be spooked. However, Fedorowycz stayed calm and so did the majestic animal. At one point in the video, the teenager leads the horse underneath what appears to be a downed telephone pole. Moments later, the fires are seen raging nearby in the distance.
“Thank you for all the love and support from the picture of me and Sovereignty. I wanted to share some of the videos that my dad took of our ride down the canyon. Stay safe everyone!” the young horsewoman stated in the caption of the video.
Social media users praised her heroic efforts to save the horse, one person writing, “I’ve been riding since I was 10 (I’m 42 now) – riding in those conditions takes a massive amount of skill and bravery. Wind, smoke, traffic. You’re a remarkable rider.”
“The trust Sovereignty has for you is a reflection of your character, disposition, & bravery. And the trust your dad has in you and your abilities is inspiring,” another user wrote.
The bravery this young w0man has put on display is inspirational to say the least. While obviously people and homes take first priority, we shouldn’t forget about the animals who are being harmed by these wildfires too. God placed man in charge of the planet. That means it’s our responsibility to care for and protect the beasts in the wild just as much as those in the field and the ones we keep for pets.
No doubt about it, Fedorowycz is a great example of courage.
