Former Vice President Mike Pence, who previously served under former President Donald Trump, issued a response to the news concerning the latest indictment against him by delivering a verbal haymaker by stating Trump “should never be President of the United States.” This is definitely taking the animosity that has been brewing between the two ever since the end of Trump’s term in the White House to a whole new level. Pence’s statement is brutal.
“Pence took to X, formerly known as Twitter, shortly after a grand jury in Washington, D.C., indicted Trump over allegedly attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Trump was charged with Conspiracy to Defraud the United States, Conspiracy to Obstruct an Official Proceeding, Obstruction of and Attempt to Obstruct an Official Proceeding, and Conspiracy Against Rights,” the Daily Wire reported.
“Today’s indictment serves as an important reminder: anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be President of the United States,” Pence stated in his comments concerning the indictment. “I will have more to say about the government’s case after reviewing the indictment. The former president is entitled to the presumption of innocence but with this indictment, his candidacy means more talk about January 6th and more distractions.”

I think Pence is forgetting the only reason people even have a clue he’s alive is because of his connection to Donald Trump during his administration. Otherwise, he would have just been another Republican governor of a largely historic red state in the midwest. However, what really made him famous — a better term is probably “infamous” is the fact he did not back Trump in his claims that something fishy was going on with the election results in 2020.
Pence attempted to make the case that Trump’s candidacy for president would only serve as a distraction from the important issues that Americans are facing right now, like “Joe Biden’s disastrous economic policies afflicting millions across the United States and to the pattern of corruption with Hunter.”
He then called out Trump for asking him to not certify the electoral votes of several states in the wake of the 2020 presidential election, a power that Pence claims the Constitution does not grant him.

“Our country is more important than one man. Our constitution is more important than any one man’s career. On January 6th, former President Trump demanded that I choose between him and the Constitution. I chose the Constitution and I always will,” Pence explained.
I’m not so sure that Trump or his base will see things that way, former Vice President Pence. In fact, I know they won’t. This statement essentially ended this man’s chances of winning the nomination, which were already non-existent to begin with.
The Trump presidential campaign issued a statement in the wake of the indictment Tuesday evening, referring to it as an attempt by Biden’s DOJ to “interfere with the 2024 presidential election.”
“The lawlessness of these persecutions of President Trump and his supporters is reminiscent of Nazi Germany in the 1930s, the former Soviet Union, and other authoritarian, dictatorial regimes,” Trump’s campaign went on to say in a statement. “President Trump has always followed the law and the Constitution, with advice from many highly accomplished attorneys.”
The latest indictment marks the third criminal case brought against the former president over the course of the last year.
