Just when you thought the people associated with CNN could not be more obnoxious, along comes former anchor John Avlon announcing he’s running for Congress, just so he can “defeat Donald Trump.” Notice he’s not running to help make the lives of those living in the first district better, but to block Trump. Is this really the kind of guy you want representing you, New York? Really? Please demonstrate to the rest of the country that you are smarter than that.
Avlon left his network of 14 years early in February, where he served as both an anchor and political analyst. He stated Wednesday that he would be running in a swing district in New York to “defeat Donald Trump” and — checks notes — save democracy. Once again, a liberal seemingly doesn’t have a clue that we don’t actually live in a democracy. Sigh. We are a republic, Avlon. I don’t think you should be running for office if you don’t know this very basic fact about the governmental system in the United States.
“There’s just too much at stake for the country and the community that I love,” Avlon went on to say in a filmed announcement. “We need to build the broadest possible coalition to defeat Donald Trump and defend out democracy and win back the House from his MAGA minions who don’t even seem interested in solving problems anymore.”
“Together, we can flip this seat. Together, we can rebuild the middle class, invest in infrastructure, protect women’s reproductive freedoms and combat climate change. Democrats can’t afford to lose this fight,” he added in the video.
It's official: I'm running for Congress in #NY01 because there's too much at stake for the country & community I love. Long Island families deserve someone who fights for their values, not Trump's. It's time for us all to get off the sidelines. Join Me. https://t.co/fMu8RdLyBL pic.twitter.com/RHWAam8yif

via The Daily Caller:
Avlon is seeking to defeat Republican New York Rep. Nicholas LaLota in the upcoming election. LaLota won his congressional seat during the 2022 midterm elections after defeating Democratic candidate Bridget Fleming, according to Fox 5. He replaced former Republican New York Rep. Lee Zeldin after the politician stepped down to run for governor.
The former CNN anchor was reportedly advised by former Democratic Rep. Steve Israel for months, according to Politico Playbook. Newsday’s Scott Eidler will conduct Avlon’s first interview as a congressional candidate.
Before joining CNN, Avlon previously served as the editor-in-chief and managing director of The Daily Beast, according to his LinkedIn account.
Avlon was a big fan of removing Trump from the ballot in Colorado, which means he doesn’t believe Americans should have the right to choose their own leadership. He’s a progressive who thinks that mankind can be perfected and we can have a utopian society if only everyone would get in on the hive mind and listen to the “elites.” You won’t voluntarily submit? Well, let’s use the law to force you to.

This is the delusion that leftists are under. It’s the philosophy that under girds their policy platform. You see, liberals are really dangerous, because the vast majority of them actually believe what they are doing is the right path forward for America. Of course, it can’t be because it’s a godless ideology that ignores the obvious truth about humanity: absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Those elites? They will be corrupted by power and ultimately use it to oppress people. It’s an inconvenient truth that they refuse to face.
