Popular musician John Legend is getting raked over the coals by many in the general public after he took it upon himself to look down his nose at the people of Springfield, Ohio, taking an opportunity to chastise and lecture the residents of the city about accepting the current invasion of Haitians that is overwhelming the largely working-class town, draining resources and placing a hard burden on local taxpayers. Oh, and there’s the whole eating wild geese, ducks, cats, and people’s pets too. Can’t forget that part.
Legend, who Breitbart News says has a net worth that exceeds $100 million and is casting a ballot for Kamala Harris in November, put up a video on his Instagram account urging the people of Springfield to “love one another,” specifically speaking of the almost 20,000 Haitians migrants that have moved into the town, which only has a population of 58,000 of its own residents. Imagine you have a family of four — two kids, two adults — and suddenly, without warning or any time to prepare or any additional resources, five more children of various ages show up on your doorstep and you are required to care for them.
That’s basically what’s happening on a much larger scale. In a town the size of Springfield, taking care of this many extra people all at once is not sustainable.
“I think all of us need to have the same kind of grace that we would want [for] our ancestors” with “our Haitian brothers and sisters,” he stated in the video.
The singer repeatedly emphasized that he grew up in Springfield and even referred to himself in the video using his real name — John R. Stevens. (He even put “John R. Stevens — Springfield, Ohio” in his Instagram bio.) But his bid for authenticity didn’t ring true to many.
“He lives in a multimillion dollar mansion in Beverly Hills,” one online commenter observed. “I just love when rich celebrities try to tell us how we should feel about certain situations,” another wrote. “Maybe they should drop 15,000 immigrants into your neighborhood you live in now and you could experience the hardship yourself,” yet another wrote.
Some are posting a video of Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen, giving a virtual tour of their palatial abode. In his Instagram post, John Legend made no reference to the horror stories Springfield residents have been forced to endure thanks to the Biden-Harris administration’s policies favoring illegal aliens. In August 2023, a local child was killed when a Haitian driver without a license hit a school bus and forced it off the road.
Breitbart’s report then revealed that a number of other residents of Springfield have detailed how the wave of Haitian migrants settling in their town has caused the destabilization of their neighborhoods, creating a sort of two-tiered society that heaps extra rights and privileges on immigrants, many of whom are the recipients of taxpayer-funded benefits, over those who are American citizens who are not getting such benefits.
John Legend then went on to deny there were accounts of Haitians killing and devouring local pets. One has to wonder how in the world Legend could possibly know that for sure. Lots of conflicting information exists on this particular claim, though enough regular citizens have come forward saying they have witnessed it happen to say that there’s definitely something going on in the streets of Springfield.
