Ever since Joe Biden took office, those of us who have not shoved our heads into warm, moist places that shall remain unnamed, have known he is a complete and utter disaster. It was obvious from the launch of his campaign in 2019 that he was suffering from some form of cognitive decline. Things have only gotten worse since then. Much, much worse. The press conference Biden held on Thursday was a complete implosion, placing his mental issues on full display and amplified for the whole world to witness.
Honestly, I’m not sure Democrats can recover from this so long as Biden is their choice for the presidential nomination. They might be forced to play their hand now and get someone else in their pronto. Don’t be too surprised if they take that course of action and we have former first lady Michelle Obama against former President Donald Trump in the November election. That’s my prediction.
Here’s more from the Daily Wire:
Biden held the press conference after Special Counsel Robert Hur released the findings from his criminal investigation into Biden’s handling of classified material which concluded that, while Biden “willfully retained and disclosed classified materials,” no charges should be brought.
One of the top reasons that Hur argued that charges should not be brought was that Biden showed strong signs of having serious memory issues — including not remembering when his son died or when he served as vice president in the Obama administration. Hur concluded that a jury would view Biden as “a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”
In other words, they don’t feel that Biden is competent to stand trial. That’s what they are really trying to say here, but without using those words. However, that is the message being sent. This paints Democrats into a corner where they have to either admit Biden is not mentally competent, which would immediately result in the invocation of the 25th Amendment and his potential removal from office, or support the fact he should have been indicted, which is a massive blow to their own presidential candidate.
Things are not looking good here for the left at all.
The president decided to respond to the release of the report by holding a press conference Thursday evening. Why, oh why, didn’t anyone on his staff talk him down from this? He was not in the right frame of mind — he rarely is — to address this report.
As the press conference got underway, Biden went off the rails against reporters who dared to point out that Americans are concerned about his age and cognitive abilities, informing them he is the most qualified person in the country to perform the duties of the presidency.

He also made some major gaffes during the press conference, mixing up the names of the Egyptian and Mexican presidents, completely forgot the name of the church where his son was given his rosary that he wears on a daily basis, and also seemingly forgot some of the key details from the very report he was responding to.
The reaction from Democrats was mixed, with some rushing to Biden’s defense while several others, most of them privately, signaled that Biden’s press conference did serious damage to his re-election campaign.
Longtime Democrat strategist and former Clinton White House aide Paul Begala said on CNN: “Look, I’m a Biden supporter. And I slept like a baby last night. I woke up every two hours crying and wet the bed.”

A Democratic member of the House, providing a comment on the matter anonymously, told NBC News the special counsel’s assessment was a complete and total “nightmare” and that it “weakens President Biden electorally.”
“For Democrats, we’re in a grim situation,” the member added.
A Democrat operative also told NBC News that yesterday’s events were “beyond devastating”, adding: “It confirms every doubt and concern that voters have. If the only reason they didn’t charge him is because he’s too old to be charged, then how can he be president of the United States?”
Another Biden ally told the publication that it was the “worst day of his presidency.”
A Democrat strategist said in an interview with The Dispatch that the report from Hur, combined with Biden’s disastrous press conference, was “worse than an indictment,” while another called it “extremely bad.”
A former official who worked for the president compared taking the nomination away from Biden to taking the car keys away from elderly parents who are no longer fit to drive.
I’d say that’s an accurate way of putting it.
If things continue as they are, and it really does come down to Biden and Trump in the general election, I don’t think this is going to be much of a contest.
