At least nineteen children have died along with three adults after an active shooter caused a lockdown at Ulvalde Consolidated Independent School District at approximately 12:17 PM local time. There was an active shooter at Robb Elementary School, which has an enrollment of around 600 students, shot and killed by police. Reportedly sheriff’s deputies were stationed at the school previous to the shooting. Whether or not those deputies were on duty today or not is unknown.

Uvalde Memorial Hospital was taking care of many students in the ER and stated that the immediate family of students should report to the cafeteria. Staff has been in communication with the families on a regular basis. Students will be bused to the Willie Dillon Civic Center at 300 E Main St, Uvalde Texas 78801. The school is requesting that parents not pick their children up until they can account for every student and after that parents will be notified when their child has been accounted for.

It’s stated that the shooting took place off campus about a block away from the school and that the active shooter ran towards Robb Elementary School. There were some videos on Twitter of the active shooter headed towards the elementary school. This recording comes from a child who stayed home from school that day. The video does not depict graphic images however there may be inappropriate language due to shock.

Type O whole blood is being rushed into Ulvalde Hospital. Allegedly, 15 units had been picked up from connect for life and sent via helicopter to the hospital.

University Hospital is also treating a child and adult patient from the shooting. They had to be transferred from Uvalde Hospital to Santa Antonio 80 miles away. The names, ages, and condition of these victims are currently unknown.

University Health stated on Twitter that they had received two patients from the shooting at Robb Elementary in Ulvalde, one that was a child and one an adult. It continued there currently being evaluated and data condition could not be released at the time. According to CBS News the adult was a teacher who had been shot.
Police stopped the suspect with the help of the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and explosives department just after 1:00 PM. According to Fox News the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Mayor of Uvalde, Don McLaughlin said that one person had been shot off campus that they knew of and the shooter ran into Robb Elementary School where he barricaded himself. No information on the shooter has been released at this time.
The details surrounding what happened next is unclear, but people on the scene state they thought it was a shootout between a man and Border Patrol. A local business owner, a couple of blocks away from Robb Elementary School said that the Border Patrol was chasing someone. This person fired four shots at the police and then the police returned fire. The man ran inside the school and barricaded himself. After this the business owner stated that he saw children being evacuated outside of windows and said the police placed the shooter into custody.

Police state 18-year-old Salvador Ramos was the shooter who killed 19 children. Governor Abbot states that he shot his grandmother before killing the 19 students and 3 adults. He was shot by law enforcement at the scene. The suspect broke numerous gun laws during this shooting.
