Colin “Kraepernick’s” the Bed With Raider Workout

Note: This article may contain commentary or the author's opinion.

Here we go again with Colin Kaepernick! Could someone PLEASE just give him a job already! At least then anyone that has watched any NFL football featuring Kaepernick’s “elite” level of play can feel vindicated.

Folks, don’t be fooled here. It’s never REALLY been about race, his America-hating antics, or his misguided views, even if all of those things played a tiny role in his unemployment status where NFL football is concerned. Colin Kaepernick isn’t good.

At the end of the day, NFL fans and teams want their respective organizations to win. If any franchise had thought Kaep could do that for them, he likely would’ve been employed. He wasn’t.

Yet here we are again, with the media and his agent banging the drum for a job. Well, not everyone is shaking their tush to this drumbeat.

Check out what Hall of Famer Warren Sapp had to say via Outkick:

NFL Hall of Famer Warren Sapp recently labeled Colin Kaepernick’s workout with the Raiders a “disaster.” Just days after those comments went viral, Sapp’s assertion has been (shockingly) dismissed by Kaepernick’s agent, Jeff Nalley.

Shocker there, right? Jeff Nalley went all “Jerry McGuire” in defense of his client. The only problem is, that Cuba Gooding Jr. as Rod Tidwell was a better player in a movie than Colin Kaepernick has ever been on a real field. Show me the money? Show me some talent Kaep.

In response, Nalley did what he’s paid to do, disputing Sapp’s claims and backing Kap. “I guess Warren didn’t talk to the General Manager or the head coach,” Nalley said through a text message exchange with Pro Football Talk. “I spoke to the G.M. [Dave Zieger] several times and he said they all thought Kap was in great shape and threw the ball really well and encouraged any team to call him about the workout and he would tell them the same.”

Considering raider ownership, the head coach, and the GM all said they would be willing to welcome the erstwhile quarterback, it remains to be seen why Colin is still jobless. Riddle me that, Batman.

It’s hard to side with Nalley here. Kaepernick’s Las Vegas workout occurred in late May and NFL training camps are less than a month away. Since Kap got off his knee and tossed a couple of balls, interest from the Raiders has been nonexistent and the rest of the league has been equally quiet.

“I’m wondering how the hell this (tryout) happened and the tape didn’t get out,” Sapp told VLAD TV.

There’s the tell, right there folks. The NFL is nothing if not meticulous with film and film study, so why wasn’t the tape out if Kaepernick was so good? My best guess sides with Sapp. He wasn’t good.

Kaepernick is 34 years old and last played (poorly) in 2016. He went 1-10 in 11 starts for San Francisco, completing less than 60% of his passes and fumbling nine timesSpeculation or insistence that he floundered in his workout shouldn’t come as a surprise.

It’s no shame to admit father time has sold you out, buddy! Let it go! Being a man of a certain age, and an avid tennis junkie for years, I recently “played” a season of USTA league tennis. While I still LOOK ok, IT WAS HARD!

Time leaves us behind athletically. I know I’m not an NFL player, but the NFL is harder than league tennis with other old dudes. It happens!

In response to Sapp’s damning report, Nalley continued: “I’m surprised Warren would say that, because it’s not true and you would think he would want Kap on a team.”

That’s a laughable suggestion from Nalley. Why should Sapp want Kap or anyone else on a team? Sapp’s been retired for more than a decade (almost as long as Kaepernick’s been out of the league). At last check, he doesn’t work in a front office or on a coaching staff. And to the best of my knowledge, he and Kaepernick aren’t related.

Here it is folks! You just had to wait for it, but the race card inevitably gets played, even if it is mostly just suggested here. Kudos to Sapp, a black man for not playing along, and telling the truth as he heard/understands it.

This world will only begin to right itself when more people like Warren Sapp tell the truth, even if the wokesters, and agents don’t like it.
