Yesterday, October 13th, 2021, Joe Rogan had on his podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience” the chief medical correspondent for CNN, neurosurgeon Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Most of Rogan’s conversations last well over two hours depending on the schedule of his guest, but some have gone over three and this was the case with Dr. Sanjay Gupta as the podcast went to three hours, eight minutes, and some seconds.
The beginning of the podcast starts out friendly enough with Joe Rogan calmly and politely talking with the doctor about some of the clean up that took place in Austin, Texas in regards to the homeless. They continued on the friendly vein for a few seconds when at two minutes and twenty-two seconds in, Joe Rogan asks why Gupta wanted to come onto the podcast.
“I like listening to you, Joe. I think you’re an authentic guy…” He begins, “You take on some big issues and I feel like there’s a conversation to be had.” Gupta goes on to admit he wanted to know why Joe Rogan wanted him on the podcast. Gupta goes onto admit that the CNN audience is more like preaching to a choir and felt like he needed to reach Joe Rogan’s audience.
Joe Rogan didn’t get into the COVID response right away as he went first into the use of cannibas or the legalization of marijuana. Joe Rogan gets to Dr. Gupta to admit that most studies on the drug were done to find the harm. It was an interesting topic considering Rogan had yet to unleash his arguments against the doctor and his peers at CNN accusing the podcaster of medicine intended for livestock. It might have even been part of Rogan’s strategy to make sure that the doctor understood the MMA man had done plenty of research, not only on the topics he planned to discuss but on Dr. Gupta himself.
When they finally got around to talking about Ivermectin, things took on a more aggressive note, though not quite as heated as has been claimed. Joe Rogan very calmly, but very aggressively forced Dr. Gupta to admit that CNN should not have called the drug a horse dewormer.
Watch the video in the tweet below for that piece of their conversation.
Joe Rogan asks Sanjay Gupta if it bothers him that CNN outright lied about Rogan taking horse dewormer to recover from covid. This is fantastic: pic.twitter.com/PEgJqIXhSD

“Why would they lie and say that’s horse dewormer?” Rogan demanded. “I can afford people medicine motherf—er. It’s ridiculous! It’s just a lie! Don’t you think that a lie like that is dangerous on a news network when you know that they know they’re lying? … Do you think that that’s a problem that your news network lies?”
Gupta sounded and looked visibly defensive and uncertain as he continued to try to defend his position. His position however devolved to the fact that his colleagues shouldn’t have done it, but he wasn’t sure it was really “defamatory“, to which Joe Rogan replied, “I bet it is.”
Joe Rogan came to the point near the end of the conversation about Ivermectin saying, “My point is you’re working for a news organization. If they’re lying about a comedian taking horse medication, what are they telling us about Russia? What are they telling us about Syria? Do you understand that that’s why people get concerned about the veracity of the news?”
Gupta’s response was only that his colleagues should not have called the medication horse dewormer.
Here’s another video of Fox and Friend’s discussing the podcast.
