Florida’s Republican State Senate president, Kathleen Passidomo, suffered a devastating loss as her husband, John Passidomo, tragically passed away in an accident while hiking in Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah. The 72-year-old fell into a canyon during the hike, resulting in severe head trauma and other injuries that proved fatal.
John and Kathleen Passidomo, who were on the brink of celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary, met during their law school years, forging a partnership that endured through the decades.
Despite efforts by fellow hikers and medical teams, John Passidomo succumbed to his injuries at a trauma center in St. George, Utah. His passing was surrounded by his wife and three daughters, marking the end of a life filled with shared adventures and cherished moments.
Described as fit, active, and in excellent health, John Passidomo’s decision to be an organ donor provided a beacon of hope amid the family’s grief. His organs were matched with recipients, fulfilling his final wish to give the gift of life to others.
The news of John Passidomo’s passing prompted an outpouring of condolences from Florida officials, including Governor Ron DeSantis, who praised him as “a good man.” Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson of Utah also expressed sympathy for the Passidomo family and the people of Florida.
While John Passidomo had his own stint in politics as a city council member and vice mayor of Naples, Florida, his wife, Kathleen, rose through the political ranks, eventually becoming the Senate President for the 2022-2024 term.
Amid the profound loss, the Passidomo family finds solace in knowing that John’s legacy lives on through the lives he saved as an organ donor, offering comfort during this difficult time.
