Sen. Ted Cruz, a Texas Republican, unleashed his full fury on the mainstream media this week for their constant promotion and pushing of Hamas produced propaganda that slanders the people of Israel in an attempt to make them out to be vile colonialists who are committing acts of genocide against the people of Palestine. They aren’t by the way, but truth has never had a great relationship with liberal news outlets.
The senator made his comments in an episode of his popular “Verdict” podcast after his co-host, Ben Ferguson, pointed out two different reports from Newsbusters concerning major outlets such as ABC, NBC, CBS, and MSNBC, promoting stuff from someone who is a known crisis actor. Go figure.
“Ben, there’s one of two scenarios,” Cruz stated during the podcast. “Either CBS, ABC, and NBC knew who he was. In which case they’re deliberately lying to the American people and saying let’s take a Hamas propagandist and put it on the global stage. If they knew, the producer put this segment together should be fired. Or the alternative is they didn’t know.”
“If they didn’t know, it means they had a political narrative they wanted to tell,” he added. “They had a political agenda, and it was too good to check. They got a video that fit their political agenda, let’s put it on the news. And you know what, if they didn’t know it means they’re biased and incompetent. They ought to be fired anyway.”
Cruz then made a very excellent point. He stated that anyone who is helping to promote the junk pushed by radical terrorist groups should face some kind of consequence as they are “lying on behalf of terrorists.”
“CBS, if there’s one principled journalist at all of CBS, do a story on who this guy is, and how CBS was complicit in spreading his lies,” the Texas Republican remarked. “That won’t be easy, it will make it will be very uncomfortable because it will make you look like crap.”

The media has a responsibility to share the facts with their viewers. Once upon a time, this was a given. Journalists looked at themselves as bastions of truth who informed the masses about the world they lived in as a means of providing them with all they needed to make informed decisions about how they lived their lives.
Now, that’s no longer the case. Journalist ethics and integrity has been thrown out the window. It’s all about serving progressivism by pushing a narrative that gets people to buy into your point of view, rather than allowing them to think for themselves. It’s been sad to watch an institution that has gone hand-in-hand with the preservation of liberty crumble and become a weapon in the hands of liberty’s enemies. Perhaps one day journalism will return to its roots.
Normally, I’m a glass half full kind of guy, but when it comes to the news media, I have a rather pessimistic outlook. The state of journalism going forward is always going to be tinged left or right.
